Hindi pinalampas ni Solicitor General Jose Calida ang pagkakataon para kumprontahin ang reporter ng ABS-CBN na si Mike Navallo matapos niyang ihain sa korte suprema ang “quo warranto” laban sa prangkisa ng ABS-CBN.
Mapapanood sa video na nilapitan ni Navallo si SolGen Calida upang humingi ng kopya ng quo warranto.
Tinanong ni SolGen Calida kung taga-saan si Navallo at kung abogado ba ito. Ilang sandali ay tila nagbabala si SolGen Calida sa mamamahayag.
“Lagi mo akong binabanatan. Abogado ka rin pala e… Practice ka na lang, baka magkita tayo sa court,” sabi ni SolGewn Calida.
Ilan sa rason kung bakit naghain si SolGen Calida ng quop warranto laban sa prangkisa ng ABS-CBN ay dahil umano sa pang-aabuso ng kumpanya. Ang prangkisa ng network ay mapapaso na rin sa huling bahagi ng Marso 2020.
“We want to put an end to what we discovered to be highly abusive practices of ABS-CBN benefitting a greedy few at the expense of millions of its loyal subscribers. These practices have gone unnoticed or were disregarded for years,” sabi ni SolGewn Calida sa isang pahayag.
Inakusahan din ni SolGen Calida ang ABS-CBN na mayroong nagmamay-ari na banyaga. Ayon sa konstitusyon, mga Pilipino lang ang pwedeng magmay-ari ng mga mass media companies.
“Like Rappler, ABS-CBN issued Philippine Deposit Receipts through ABS-CBN Holdings Corporation to foreigners, in violation of the foreign ownership restriction on mass media in the Constitution,”sabi pa sa pahayag..
